Back in 1998 Randy’s Boogie Squad was a relatively new five-piece Rhythm & Blues band founded during the summer of 1996.

The band’s repertoire consists of covers as well as self written compositions. Whilst their style was undoubtedly Rhythm & Blues, it wasn’t limited to just ‘standard’ blues. It was more an exciting mixture of rock & roll, swing, and swampy blues. Randy’s Boogie Squad incorporated elements of the 50s from great musical predecessors such as Jimmy Reed, BB King, Ray Charles and Elvis Presley. All these elements mixed with with their own musical creativity made the band one of the most challenging blues acts of the late 90s.

Randy’s Boogie Squad puts emphasis on creating an intimate atmosphere during live show which in turn lends itself to the performance of sometimes passionate, sometimes subdued songs. Randy Derkof (vocals and guitar) knows how to win the public over in no time with his bluesy soulful voice and raucous guitar playing. Inspired by the blues, he convinces in bringing the message across to the audience. Together with guitarist Tom Punt, harmonica player Kees Elsman, bass player Ton van der Kolk and drummer Timothy van der Holst, Randy brings you a swinging Rhythm & Blues experience.

The band’s debut CD ‘Blues for Dixie’ was released in March 1997 and followed in November 1998 by ‘Blue Fever’. Over the years Randy’s Boogie Squad built up a good live reputation. Among their performances, they could be seen appearing at many Blues and Jazz festivals as well as performing live for a Dutch radio and television.
